Laser Hair Removal
The vast array of changes your body goes through after pregnancy and in the early stages of motherhood can sometimes be overwhelming. These changes may also make you more aware of other aesthetic issues you may have had for quite some time, such as undesired hair in certain areas of your body. As part of a Mommy Makeover procedure, Dr. Tiffany McCormack can reduce unwanted hair with the Lumenis® Light Sheer Duet laser hair removal system, a state-of-the-art technique that can be effective for all skin types and hair colors. The Lumenis® system is known for achieving positive results in less treatment sessions when compared with other laser hair removal technologies, and is also known for its virtually painless application.

Laser Hair Removal Procedure
Laser hair removal procedures can provide permanent elimination of unwanted hair, taking away the hassle of clipping, shaving, and waxing. Using the Lumenis® Light Sheer Duet laser hair removal system, Dr. McCormack can help you achieve reduction of undesired hair in just a few treatment sessions. The procedure begins by shaving the area targeted for hair removal and testing the skin so that the laser achieves the most precise and accurate focus possible. Dr. McCormack will then gently guide the handheld laser over the region of unwanted hair. The focused beam of light penetrates into the hair follicles themselves, destroying them at the root. This ultimately discourages the possibility of re-growth.
Treatment times with the Lumenis® Light Sheer Duet laser hair removal system typically last about 15 minutes or less, depending on the size of the area being treated. With this particular laser hair removal system, you may attain the desired results relatively quickly in just a few treatment sessions. Also, the Lumenis® laser is known to be virtually painless compared to some other laser hair removal techniques.
Laser Hair Removal Recovery
Most patients can resume normal daily activities immediately after laser hair removal. You can expect some degree of redness and swelling in the treatment area, rather like a mild sunburn, for about a day after the procedure. Most patients can expect an 80-90 percent reduction in the area being treated, and individual hairs that may pop up over time can be eliminated with an occasional touch-up treatment. Dr. McCormack cautions those who are pregnant, and those who think they may be pregnant, to talk with their doctor before considering laser hair removal. She also advises individuals who are taking medication for acne to speak with their physician before considering this procedure. Dr. McCormack will be happy to explain all aspects of the laser hair removal procedure with you at an initial consultation. She will address all of your concerns, and together, you will decide if laser hair removal may be a beneficial procedure for your ultimate goals.
