Asymmetric Breasts
Naturally perfect, symmetric breasts do not exist. We all have slight differences between one breast and the other, often not even noticeable. However, as we age and enter into motherhood, these slight differences can become more pronounced and severe, as pregnancy and weight loss start having an effect on how the breasts look. Asymmetric breasts can have a significant impact on the way you see yourself and how you feel about your appearance. As part of a Mommy Makeover, correction of breast asymmetry from our plastic surgeon—Dr. Tiffany McCormack—can bring the breasts into better balance and make them appear much more symmetrical.
Depending on the degree of breast asymmetry you are experiencing, there are a number of breast surgery procedures that can effectively address the condition. A breast lift (mastopexy) can be performed on one breast to eliminate excess skin and tighten the remainder so that it more accurately reflects the other breasts. In some cases, a breast augmentation with implants may be necessary on one breast or on both give them a more accurate balance; in others a repositioning of the nipple in one breast may be all that is needed to provide better symmetry. If one breast is significantly larger than the other, Dr. McCormack may recommend a breast reduction of the larger breast.
Breast asymmetry is a very common condition in women and there is an array of options to correct it, all of which can be used in combination with other aesthetic enhancement procedures you may opt to undergo in a Mommy Makeover.
